How to Use Campaigns Start Date, End Date or Creation Date in Rules

With the help of automatic optimization rules on TheOptimizer platform, you can automatically pause campaigns or ad groups, change bids and budgets, or run other important optimization actions based on the Start Date, End Date or Creation Date of your campaign.

Example 1: Start running rule 3 days after campaign has started

This rule will only work correctly if you have set a Start Date for your campaign. Make sure to check the Start Date column on TheOptimizer

  1. Go to Rules and click on +New Rule
  2. Select the rule based on the desired rule action
  3. Define a name for your rule and the maximum look-back interval
  4. Add any standard rule conditions as needed
  5. Add Campaign – Days since started > 3 as a condition

Example 2: Stop running rule 2 days before campaigns’ end date

This rule will only work if you have an End Date set for your campaigns. Make sure to check the End Date column on TheOptimizer.

  1. Go to Rules and click on +New Rule
  2. Select the rule based on the desired rule action
  3. Define a name for your rule and the maximum look-back interval
  4. Add any standard rule conditions as needed
  5. Add Campaign – Days until end <= 2 as a condition

Example 3: Run rule only for campaigns created after a specific date

Use “Less” or “Less or Equal” if you want the action to happen before or up to the specified date, or use “Greater” or “Greater or Equal” if you want the action to happen from the specified date or later.
